About Jeff

I was born and raised in New Jersey, mostly in a small town called Hillsborough, about a half hour outside of Princeton. After graduating high school, I attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, graduating in 2004 with a double major in Media Arts and Design (SMAD) and Computer Science, with honors, as an honor scholar and with distinction for my thesis Interactive Narrative: Theory and Practice..

After college, I spent a short time as a web developer for a private government contractor. A year later, when the company was bought by Lockheed Martin, I decided to push for a position as a game programmer. I was fortunate enough to be hired as an Associate Programmer at Bethesda Game Studios, joining the team near the end of crunch on Oblvion, and staying until its completion, the completion of its expansion, Shivering Isles, and through a good deal of the development of Fallout 3.

In 2007, I left Bethesda and moved to Boston to start a game middleware company with good friend and infamous game industry personality Darius Kazemi. The company, Orbus Gameworks, proided middleware and consulting for game companies looking to gather metrics about player behavior in games to improve game design.

In 2010, I decided to leave Orbus in order to focus on making games again. I decided to join another Boston Area start up Fire Hose Games.

In addition to my job as a game programmer, I am involved in the industry in other ways as well, specifically through the IGDA, as chair of Tools SIG, mentor to IGDA Student Scholars, a contributor to the Student SIG, and Student Chapter innitiatives, and occasionally as a contributor to the Education SIG. In the past I have also worked as a moderator on their forums (Breaking In to the Industry and Programming and Technology) and helped organize IGDA events.
